You gore-goons ready for another roundup from the great big horrorsphere? Damn straight.

AMONG THE LIVING

I absolutely love the movie Inside, so hearing that the mad geniuses behind it are at work on a new horror flick certainly gets me gooseflesh! Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury are doing an amusement park themed horror film. Let the anticipation begin.

We’re still waiting for an uncut release of their 2011 film Livid with English subtitles (and yet an American remake is already in the works, of course). Wouldn’t it be great if our friends at Scream Factory could help us out with a solid release of it for the states? Woah.

ENTER TO WIN AN ENTIRE YEAR OF SCREAM FACTORY RELEASES!

Speaking of Scream Factory, they’re having an amazing contest in honor of Halloween:

One frighteningly fortunate grand prize winner will receive a one-year subscription to Scream Factory, extending from this Halloween to the next.  S/he will receive one copy of each new Scream Factory title as they’re released (Blu-ray or DVD format to be chosen by winner) between 10/31/12 and 10/31/13.  The winner is also guaranteed to receive all value-adds, such as limited-edition posters, that might be offered.  In the event of a zombie apocalypse within the next year, the subscription will be terminated, and you will be invited to join us at the nearest rural mall.
Best giveaway ever and, obviously, we’ve entered to win. And as one of our facebook fans pointed out, this one is open to Canadian residents too!

VHSPS

Don’t you wish you could uncover some of those movies you stared at on the video store shelves when you were a kid, just to see what they were like? Don’t you wish you could find some of those long-out-of-print B-movies you grew up with? Well, you can, thanks to The VHS Preservation Society.

Offering 10 dollar DVD transfers of old VHS flicks that are otherwise unavailable, this is a horrorhound’s blood-wet dream. Right now, use the code BOOTS10 and save 10% on your order.

Rawhead Rex and Santa With Muscles are now mine!

MAKE YOUR OWN HALLOWEEN

One of our favorite things about Halloween is making our own props. From tombstones to ghoulies, the wife and I love creative projects. Here is an extensive list of how-tos when it comes to making your yard the scariest on the block.

The wife gives a big thumbs up for our homemade undead bride and groom, circa 2011, composed of chicken wire and an old boxing mannequin.

UNDERGROUND HORRROR FICTION

I’m an underground horror writer, so I appreciate the smaller presses. In this computer age where books are becoming relics, underground horror fiction tends to be the most visceral and imaginative too. If you’re burnt out on the mainstream monotony, I highly suggest checking out a few titles from Deadite Press, one of the best in the subterranean dark fiction bizz.

AN ALL AMERICAN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

I have to confess something. I like American Dad way more than I like Family Guy. I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but it’s mine and I’m sticking with it. I find American Dad to be much wittier whereas Family Guy can get too redundant and sophomoric for me.

This episode from Season 6, titled The Best Little Horror House in Langley Falls, is a hilarious and extremely dark Halloween special in which Stan just can’t stand that someone on the block has a scarier haunted house than his… so he brings some real serial killers home. This is currently on Netflix streaming, as well as Hulu, Amazon, and iTunes (the link will take you to all four options). Check out the preview:

That’s all we have time for this week, friends! But we’re hard at work on a guest post for Guts and Grog where we will be teaming up to relive the kid-friendly horror we all grew up with. Look for that in November!
