No matter who you are or what you’re into, you’ll face stereotypes – the preconceived notions people have of whatever it is you’re supposed to be based on where you come from, what you like and do, and how you look.

The Rock Warrior THOR has always shaken the very halls of Valhalla with inspiring anthemic Metal as powerful as the enchanted warhammer Mjolnir itself!

Bodybuilding champion, heavy metal icon, producer/star of such horror gems including the legendary Rock N’ Roll Nightmare, and explosive performer (blowing up hot water bottles, bending steel, and having cinder blocks broken over his chest are all in a night’s work)… THOR is an immensely powerful figure and it is an honor to have him join us at the Tavern! THOR will be a guest of honor on Friday September 27th at our Cult Film Fest, and on Saturday he will be performing LIVE at 80s in the Park. Tickets are still on sale — this show is not to be missed!!

There are a lot of great horror songs out there, from The Monster Mash to the modern day black metal pouring out of countries you can’t pronounce.  Horror has always had its place in music, inspiring intense classical pieces (Dance Macabre, Night on Bald Mountain), sneaking into folk songs sung around the campfire (Knoxville Girl, Ghost Riders in the Sky, Long Black Veil) and really peaking with the heavy metal of the 1980s, (everything by Iron Maiden).

Horror in music continues to morph with the times, leading to horror-rap such as Necro and even techno remixes of classic horror movie themes. Hell, John Carpenter’s Halloween theme has long been one of the most popular ring tones around.

While I love a good horror film score, nothing makes me happier than a great horror movie tie-in song. Sometimes this is a song created specifically for the movie (like the theme to “Ghostbusters”), sometimes it is a song that is just utilized very well in the movie (like the use of Tom Jones’s “With These Hands” in Edward Scissorhands) and sometimes the song is made in honor of the movie itself (Dave Edmunds’ “Creature From the Black Lagoon”).

With this new Friday feature, I want to explore my top fifteen favorite tie-in songs for the horror genre. From human beat-box horror raps to hair metal serenades, let’s dig deep into the record crypt and see just how much horror really rocks!

We already covered numbers 15 through 11 on our first post. Now let’s keep the house of horror rockin’ with the next five entries….
